y CHAIR

The Y Chair is an armchair lounge designed to be visually striking and minimal while maintaining ergonomically correct proportions for enough comfort to sit back and enjoy conversation with friends.

The frame is drawn from a continuous line which flows from the arms into the backrest, branching off into the back legs and supports.

1/8b Scale models on a table.

1/8 scale models—each with small differences—were 3D printed and assembled to better assess the form in real space before the full-scale prototype was constructed.

PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE

Simple but strong doweling joints and wood splines join each piece of beech wood together for a sturdy frame.
